To convert kibibytes to kilobytes, enter the value in the first field. The result in kilobytes is calculated automatically using the exact conversion factor.
1 KiB = 1.024 kB
1 kB = 0.9765625 KiB
Formula: kB = KiB × 1.024
KiB = kB × 0.9765625
Definitions: 1 KiB = 1024 B; 1 kB = 1000 B
The kibibyte (KiB) is 1,024 bytes. The binary prefixes kibi, mebi and gibi were introduced by the IEC in the late 1990s to tell powers of 1,024 apart from powers of 1,000.
The kilobyte (kB) is 1,000 bytes in the SI system. A short text document or a small icon takes a few kilobytes. Some older software uses KB to mean 1,024 bytes, which is officially a kibibyte (KiB).
